Yor vehicle is not over 7' high so why do you need a shorter antenna? Garage doors are 7' but if your door isnt all the way open you need to adjust the opener. You cannot cut the antenna off its not just a piece of solid antenna. Your XM,Onstar FM will be dead.

bayshore5, I also believe that the stock antenna is too long, especially for going through a car wash. Accordingly, I have ordered a Cravenspeed stubby antenna for the Srx from Amazon ($28.99 with free shipping for Amazon Prime members). I will report back after I receive and test it out.

Hey, redvett94, try to be constructive! Putting down others only reflects upon your insecuritivies!!!

----------

And that should be: INSECURITY! Please, redvett94, try to assist other members, not put them down because they have low garage ceiling heights or use quality car washes!! Thanks..........

I am not being destructive i am stating a FACT. All vehicles under 8500GVW are under 7' from the factory. If the OP has larger tire & wheel combination the vehicle is over the limit. Home garage doors are normal 7' so the vehicle will pass. Car washes are just that and you need to complain about the low clearance.

Received the CravenSpeed stubby antenna today; it works well, and looks good! It will get a long distance test when we do the next road trip.

Well..., you could bend the antenna, starting 3" from the top, so that those 3" are parallel to the ground. If you don't like the way that looks, then, buy a shorter antenna...

We took a trip for a few hundred miles, and the CravenSpeed stubby antenna worked great; couldn't be happier!

Got a link? The one on amazon has a bad review, which one did you order?

Kanundrum, I ordered mine from Amazon and it fits perfectly and works great! I bought mine before that one Amazon review was written; perhaps the reviewer ordered the wrong item(?). It was simple to install, and I prefer the look to that of the shark fin.

Yes, I ordered the one for 2010-2013 SRX. I also ordered one from Amazon for my wife's car (not an SRX) and it was a perfect fit with great reception as well. I am completely satisfied, and wonder why GM cannot use stubby antennas for more of its products.
Kanundrum, if you purchase one, let us know your experience.
