Hey everyone,

Was wondering if anyone here was planning on going to Rolex 24 on the 24th.

Not this year - have made many pilgrimages to Daytona in the past, including the mid/late 1960s when the Ford Mk IV/GT40 beat the Ferraris at their own game. 30 hours in the infield - fun.

If anyone has the chance to go, don't miss it - it's a real hoot.

Its my first one, wanted to do it proper with my car so I am going to tow it down there to have fun in the corral. Will definitely get plenty of pictures and videos of the cars!

Not my year either. Living an hour away this is the first one I have missed in years.

Sunrise on Sunday morning - from 35 mph to 246 mph and back again - for 24 hours. In this video the lead Cadillac is almost a lap ahead of the rest of the field - it's a HUGE course (3.6 miles) so it looks as if there are no other cars racing - not so. Cars everywhere. This year the race ran well over 2,000 miles in total distance.

Using the Daytona tri-oval map (Post #6) with the shallow dent in the long straightaway see if you can compare the video positions to the map turns. I drove a Ford Mk.IV for 8 laps there (under supervision) in the late 60s. It was a hoot.
