Just successfully had my grinding driver's seat fixed. And at the same time they did:

Perform Instument Panel Cluster Update--14687
Cause: 9101211 Reprogram Instrument panel cluster
2805 WGM
FC: Part# Count
Claim type: ZFAT

Perform recall 14687 Reprogram IPC per doc# 1487
WCC'S 60076, S2394, 6001A

Forgot to ask the SA, so what's happening?

Glad they fixed your seat!

Our service manager stated that the cluster update is needed to prevent "blackout" issues from occurring, which I never ran into myself.

Well, I haven't had this problem and probably won't, but it is good to know that Caddy is trying to be proactive. But I still can't forgive them for for the fast shuffle they've ginen us on the CUE updates.

on my '13 if i redialed a busy number using the wheel 5 way controller and DIC after 2 or 3 tries the whole cluster would go black and reset...this was repeatable...funny thing is i haven't tried it on the '14...CUE (radio screen) on the '14 has gone black a couple times but an update seemed to squash that

Recently I had a 2015 SRX as a loaner car. I was blown away by how much better the CUE system was than my 2014. It was faster, more responsive, and actually "understood" what I said.

I was also shocked with the speed and accuracy of the 2015 CUE system when compared to my 2013 system. This should've been a free upgrade for the early adopters! New HMI module or not, it would've been the right thing to do...

The fact that they haven't upgraded our HMI's for 2013 ( I still have the old HMI 1.1 and they refused to upgrade to the 2.0) is really shamefully after the promise they made about of CUE systems never being out of date is shameful!

How do I tell what HMI module I have? My vehicle is a 2014. Would swapping modules be all that's necessary to upgrade?

Rusty, I'm pretty convinced at this point that updates of any sort will only apply to correcting a specific problem with CUE. I just can't see GM putting the labor into this while at the same time introduce new problems when they do. On the other hand they don't even offer it as a pay for it option which at least gives people the option to get upgrades they want. As you said its a broken promise and was at the minimum very misleading to us 13 owners.

What do they tell people buying my 15 looking or considering ordering 16s?
