2000 STS

I posted this question a couple weeks ago but didn't get a response, so I'll try again.

I had my 2000 STS aligned a few weeks ago and was told that the struts were leaking and needed to be replaced. :crying: I did some searching in this forum and found some information about simply replacing the seals, which would cost considerably less than replacing the struts themselves. The struts do have a light oil film on the upper portion of the body. I was going to post a picture but it didn't show too much.

Before I bend over and take it to the dealer, how can I tell if it's indeed the struts or just seals? Are the seals indeed replacable on my car? I am not getting any error messages. I'd appreciate any insite you could provide. Thanks!
