Does anyone know if oil filter adapter on LH2 engine can be taken out without lowering the engine? It leaks some oil and I want to replace its gasket but not sure if it can be done by just unscrewing 4 bolts. SM says just the bolts but I cannot tell if they mean the engine lying on a table or on the car.

Thanks. Looks like its doable but not sure if left drive shaft would be a problem. Was going to PM you rather than make a new thread but it said you are over the PM limit. You are the best, Glake ;)

The manual says to remove the drive shaft but maybe you can work around it, let's hope.

No need to remove drive shaft, just pushed tranmission lines with one hand and pulled out the adapter with another. The tricky part was to hold the gasket in place when putting adapter back to the block. Solved it by pushing all 4 bolts through the adapter with gasket and the bolts held the gasket in place.
Still leaks oil though :( Must be something right above and behind the adapter.... Can't see the exact spot.
