I read Rangers thread on how to get the engine to move forward so I could have clearance to remove and replace blower mtr.
I am using the 7 inch turnbuckle he suggested on the Left Dog Ear. How far forward can I safely move the engine without doing
any mechanical damage.? Also, does the transmission have to be in neutral? Thanks for any help/responses

Trans gear selector is irrelevant. I think you can get about 2" or so out of it. That is for installing the new one. The old one will come out in pieces without any engine movement.

I haven't tried to replace the blower motor in my Cadillac but on a few of the other GM cars I tried to get the plugs out, I would put it in neutral and the engine would move alot foward than it would in park. Try it and see what happens. You got nothing to loose. Make sure your on level ground so the car doesn't roll or block the wheels.

When I had the blower motor out of a 96 I didn't have to move the engine. The hardest part was getting to the lower screws.
