replacing a front differential on an 04 srx

I need to have my front differential replaced on my "04" SRX. I was told that to replace the differential, you need to program it before it would work properly. Is there any truth to that statement? Any help would be deeply appreciated.

What would they program??
The differential is 100% mechanical, there are no sensors or programming involved that I've ever heard of.

Thank you for confirming what I already knew. I was told this by a "so-called" mechanic. I just think he didn't want to tackle the job.
