while replacing the rear door module after replacing the window module in my 2001 STS, I accidently set off the theft system, the message "service theft system"
was displayed. now the car will not start, any help is appreciated.

That should have nothing to do with security. Pull your codes.
Okay now I feel silly I went to check my codes and could not open the car via the keyless entry, the battery was drained below acceptable voltage that's why the car wouldn't start. the fact that I did set off the VTD was coincidental to the car not starting, I do recall that after the VTD message displayed the headlights where on, I assumed the
automatic shut off would shut off the lights but apparently the lights stayed on and drained the battery. so I jumped the battery and let the system charge, no current DIC
messages but many history DIC messages, I reset the DIC and have not had any more issues. Initially I installed the rear door module without having disconnected the
battery first, this caused the VTD to set and alarm to sound. too many codes to list but most of them had to do with the door module.
