The crest itself has tape and a couple of tabs holding it on. Can be pried off, carefully, but as to how you would remove the whole chrome strip and the base that the crest sits on, I don't know.
So I got the applique off. It was a lot harder than I thought. Had to remove all the interior lift gate pieces ..one big one and one smaller one. Then had to remove the side pieces on the lift gate that have the sensors in them. Also had to remove a smaller plastic piece that covers the latch. There are at least six threaded studs holding it on along with two or four snap in retainers. Its on there real good. Anyway, got it done and only broke four of the interior retainers in the applique itself. Was able to super glue all but one back in and it seems to be holding as tight as original. Attaching some pics of it during the process and the final look ...at least for now!
Man, I was hoping it wasn't going to be so involved. I'm wanting to replace that and my front grille and lower molding in the front. I can imagine how challenging that's going to be. I think I may have to remove my entire front bumper...? Thanks for the post!
I actually want to go back all chrome. When I purchased my truck the front grille, the applique, and the other chrome moldings on the front bumper were wrapped but it doesn't look good with rocks and bugs that have damaged it.
