Does anybody know how to remove the shift knob from a 2008 sts with automatic transmission?

I think I remember reading that you pull the ring down at the bottom of the shifter on the shaft. Then there is a way to release it (maybe a screw).

Then again I may have dreamt this.

This is the way it is on an 05. just pry the chrome ring down and there is a single torx on the back of the knob.
