If you do not mind waiting a day I will have some pictures. I believe Bose just put CD players in these cars but I could be mistaken about this. If it is a bose you will have to run all new wiring to the speakers and remove the old wiring and equipment. Regardless of Bose or not I would suggest that you run the 12v off of the battery. You will need a fuse within 12"-18" of the battery to be safe. I actually have ran mine to the back of the car because I have an amp and a custom fuse box back there. If it is not a bose I have the wiring diagram. I actually tried to buy one of the plug in adaptors so that I would not have to cut the wiring and it did not work. I am sure someone will give an answer to the Bose or not question so that you will know ahead of time as I am not 100% sure.

Why not just use an IPod and get the cable that plays it through the
FM radio? Then you cantake your music library with you.

i have a 2001 catera and i am having troubles with putting in an aftermarket radio. I have the BOSE system and when i hooked everything up (correctly) my deck didn't turn on. I wanted to know as i was told that it would be $1,300 to have all MY stereo put in and the needed relocation of factory BOSE. Is it possiable to not have to relocate the factory and/or is there something i am missing within the wiring. I am going to replace all of the stereo equipment in my car with aftermarket and my own wiring to the speakers from the deck harness.
Please help as i don't feel that the install would cost that much and Best Buy isn't going to take $900 from me.

Wire a new power wire off from the harness?!?!? I have wired 5 of my prior cars and this is the first one that had the BOSE system, which i am starting to hate right about now, but love that i have more speakers to add. Now what i was going to do was remove all BOSE and On-star stuff and run my aftermarket deck to amps to power all my speakers/subs. I just need to get the radio to turn on. Could it be due to the fatory radio is run via a serial info? Can I bypass?

I figured it out. I had to run the constant(yellow wire) off of the cig lighter and the power(red wire) off the radio fuse #8 had to put a 20amp instead of the 15amp that was in there. Now today i started wiring and let me tell you it is the bigest pain in the ass. I figured it would take a few hours MOST. . . Nope i just wired the front door and ran amp cables its about 4 right now and i have another 3 doors. Now i am driving down the road with wires and stuff hanging off the drivers door. If anyone can tell me if and how they wired the speaker cable through the door as i can't fit it in the boot and pulling it off, made it accomplish nothing. DAMN BOSE. . . why couldn't it be a little louder and play ALL my cd's, i-pod and sat radio.:thepan:
