When I close my car door, I get the "remote left in vehicle" horn warning. The remote is NOT in the vehicle. I have had someone else close the door and the remote is 20 feet away, and we still get the warning. Because of this, I can't remote start it, the weather is still very cold here! :suspense:
I removed the battery hoping that would reset the remote, and my dealer has no clue how to help me.

Anyone out there have any ideas??

Thanks,
Julie

Go to another dealer, if there is one near you. Something is wrong, unless your second remote is buried under a sear or something. You could also try OnStar, if you still have that service. They can ofter trouble shoot trouble code problems. If all else fails, call GM Customer Support. The phone number is in the back of your owner's manual.

Yes, I'll try another dealer.
Second remote is not in the car; I do have Onstar, never thought of asking them about it.
If second dealership can't help I will contact customer support.

Thanks for the info!

I am getting the SAME message! We bought our car used and I have also scoured the car looking for another remote, but none was found!

If there were another remote in the car, you would be able to start the vehicle without another key with you. Sounds like a control module issue. The dealer may be able to fix it by re-programming your keys, but it may require a module replacement.
