Remote car starters

With winter here im thinking i might get a remote car starter. But ive heard they can fry the wiring after 6months or a year. anyone had any success with any brands?

I've had a dealer installed DEI remote starter since June 2003 with 0 issues.

I've had a Clifford remote starter for 7 months now with no problems and I use it all the time....

I had a remote start installed and it blew my car up, like KABOOOM...pieces everywhere
