If you want to be exact, a US gallon contains 3.785 liters (or litres in Canada, LOL). Better yet an Imperial (British) gallon has 4.545 litres.

Which is makes really good sense here in Canada as we need to figure out what gallon someone is referring to up here as we get to see both. So most of the time we stick to litres as that never changes.

Regarding Octane, Just read the Owner's Manual, if you still have it. Use what the manufacturer tells you to use.
For cars in the last 10 years, you can try lower octane and you can be fine. You may have a slight drop in performance, but the car's computer actually compensates for it. But you drive a Cadillac! So if it requires Premium, use it! Otherwise you should drive an econobox.
