I just received a notice of a recall. The note said, "ECM EEPROM excessive writes - reprogram ECM". Does anyone know what this is about?
Thanks

Without looking it up, I think the ECM is the Electronics Control Module and the EEPROM is the non-volatile electronically erasable memory used to store information on the car performance. Those memory modules have a finite (although large) number of write cycles before they fail. It seems the ECM software is performing too many writes (treating it like RAM memory). The ECM software needs to be reprogrammed to stop it from doing that many writes to the EEPROM memory.
