Does anyone know about the recall issued last Friday, I believe it is an issue with the sunroof switch. All I know is I put a deposit on a 2013 2.0T premium and can't pick it up till the recall is completed.
Thanks!

Recall is not released yet from GM as I stated in previous post in previous thread. The notice was dated 02/12/15 notifying dealers of the UPCOMING recall but states they are still waiting to get parts in order to release it. It also states: To correct this condition, a revised roof console accessory switch trim plate will be available that recesses the sunroof control switches deeper into the panel

I will post full letter again, all your questions are answered in there the best anyone will be able to answer them at this point:

FRENCH MESSAGE TO FOLLOW AS SOON AS AVAILABLE

Subject: Stop Delivery Order for Upcoming Noncompliance Recall - 15119

STOP DELIVERY ORDER

Effective immediately, stop the delivery of certain 2013-2015 model year Cadillac ATS vehicles in new or used vehicle inventory. General Motors has notified Transport Canada and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about an upcoming noncompliance recall that involves these vehicles. The GM recall number is 15119.

Until further instructions are received, all 2013-2015 model year Cadillac ATS vehicles that are in dealer new or used vehicle inventory and equipped with (RPO CF5) sunroof must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer-traded, released to auction, or used for demonstration purposes. It is a violation of federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the noncompliance is remedied.

General Motors has decided that 2013 – 2015 model year Cadillac ATS vehicles equipped with power-operated roof panel systems fail to conform to Canada/Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (C/FMVSS) No.118, “Power-Operated Window, Partition, and Roof Panel Systems”. The roof panels in these vehicles will auto-close when the non-recessed portion of the “Slide” or “Tilt” switches are pressed and the roof panel is open. Because these switches are not fully recessed, they can be actuated when performing the test procedure set forth in S6(a) of C/FMVSS No. 118, which results in the roof panel auto-closing when open.

To correct this condition, a revised roof console accessory switch trim plate will be available that recesses the sunroof control switches deeper into the panel.

We are working with the supplier to obtain the required parts as quickly as possible. When a sufficient quantity is available, the recall bulletin will be released and dealers can begin repairing vehicles.

The Investigate Vehicle History screen in the Global Warranty Management system will be updated the week of February 16, 2015 for this upcoming noncompliance recall. This action has been taken to assist dealers with determining which vehicles are involved so they can properly respond to customer inquiries. Please note the "N/A" under Release Date and the "Incomplete – Remedy Not Yet Available" message under Status. This means release of the recall bulletin is still pending and dealers should not attempt to perform any repairs at this time.

The attached file provides the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the involved vehicles that have been identified as currently being in dealer new vehicle inventory. It is sorted by dealer Business Associate Code (BAC) for easy reference. Your dealership's BAC will not be listed if none of the involved vehicles are currently in your new vehicle inventory. A file identifying involved vehicles in dealer used inventory is not available.

Additional information will be provided in the near future.

Thanks again for the info ikireland. I should hear something tomorrow, but this sounds like I'm going to be waiting weeks to take delivery, which is quite disappointing. Bill, if it's at a GM dealership I would bet they saw it. I feel your pain. I purchased Saturday morning and am waiting impatiently to pick it up.

Yay! New recall for me!

This is getting old....
Truth be told I don't care too much about the recalls themselves. At least GM is admitting the faults and trying to make it right. The thing that I hate is that again I have to go to my beloved Cadillac dealer and go through the same misery.....

This one is up there with replacing the Camaro key. Personally I would rather they leave my sunroof alone. Every time they do something they do some damage even if it is minor. Seat belt recall they put some cuts in the rubber trim and never got the panels back they way they came from the factory and left a nice grease mark on the belt webbing.

Well the good news, for me anyway, is the vehicle I purchased was not included in this recall. The bad news for a lot of customers is that apparently they can not take delivery of an affected vehicle. At least that's what the dealer told me on Saturday. Picked my ATS up last night and I have to say I'm quite happy with the car so far.

Hmmmmmm.... Now doesn't that figure. I don't mind having to take it in for a recall, not much for lying though. I know the other day they weren't allowed to sell any affected vehicles, new or used. Did that change?

I don't have a sunroof but this one really seems one to not panic on and get fixed with other normal maintenance. From reading it I am unclear where the danger is. So they are going to recess the switches further? Before the recall, don't be in the way of the sunroof when you close it, similar to how I use doors?

The roof panels in these vehicles will auto-close when the non-recessed portion of the “Slide” or “Tilt” switches are pressed and the roof panel is open. Because these switches are not fully recessed, they can be actuated when performing the test procedure set forth in S6(a) of C/FMVSS No. 118, which results in the roof panel auto-closing when open.

I have to jump in with the "I'm getting really tired of all the recalls" on this car. I had hoped moving from BMW to Cadillac would alleviate some of the build issues I've experienced with owning a "luxury" brand but it does concern me about the overall car quality. I know recalls will be honored outside of warranty but given the car's history I don't trust that this car will be worth keeping after the GM security blanket goes away. Also, time is money and I don't appreciate the time I spend having to take the car to the dealership, wait or get a ride or rent (depending), go and pickup the car, etc... So... I'll probably move to a different brand when the lease expires. It's too bad. I wanted to like the Cadillac experience.

I don't see your concern. All my recalls were done during "Free" maintenance with "Free" loaner so no additional trips. Most of the recalls I have had done were just checks that resulted in no action and the one that did was a part not build related. This latest one I don't care if I ever get it done, switches not recessed enough...It's difficult to make a car idiot proof but the lawyers keep trying. I'm not saying GM is not recall happy but the recall I'm concerned is one withheld that could impact my life/safety.

I'd recommend you buy a MB but they just announced a recall that could result in a fire....

To me most of them seem like lawyers were involved and little to be worried about. This one is the switch isn't recessed enough? Seems like a lot of nonsense. I have yet to see anything that deals with long term reliability to the point that I am concerned. Maybe if I had a number of actual failures or was close to the warranty ending and saw something that would be expensive and likely to fail but I don't know of any right now. What recall has been worth getting done outside of normal scheduled maintenance? Are you going to make a special trip to get your switches recessed further? Also, my dealership gives a loaner (now have CTS in driveway while getting scheduled maintenance and recalls), why are you getting a ride or renting?

I plan on keeping my car for to around 150k miles (like the car I sold to get this one) and haven't seen any reason to think I won't make it.
