Rear license plate mounting: only two screws?

As you may all know, our trunklid only has 2 screw holes at the top to mount the license plate. I don't like hearing the plate rattle everytime I close the trunk lid. Does anyone have any neat ideas to secure the plate better without drilling the holes at the bottom?

I run a line of silicon all along the edges and around the screw holes

Yeh I hated that to so my b.f. used the stick on Weatherstrip from Lowes across the back bottom of the license plate.
The ATS is the same way except GM now has a similar foam/weatherstrip piece already in place to prevent that.
just attach some felt pads to the back of the plate, works for me.

Agreed, I put some sticky rubber tape on the underside of my plate to keep it from rattling.
Some thin weather-stripping or the like would probably be the best bet. I have used that rubbery double sided tape in the past for similar reasons and let me just warn you that it does not age well. It practically cements itself to either surface over time and can be nearly impossible to remove without damaging the surface below. I learned the hard way.
Double sided sticky tape would be a disaster, and unfortunately you learned about that.
I have happily used a rigid frame similar to the following - little or no flex nor need for tape etc...

My dealer provides something similar, problem solved!
Can you guys post pictures of those frames installed? So do you guys mount the plate onto that frame using all 4 screws and then mount the frame on the trunk with 2 top screws?

Exactly, there are usually different length screws provided or available. Use short ones to secure the license plate at the bottom of the frame to just the frame and longer ones at the top to secure to the trunk lid. There is also a lip on the bottom and sides of the frame that you slide the plate into giving a bit more on the fit and finish side...

Sorry, no pics...
Hey there. Just tackled this on Monday and was very happy with the outcome. I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and purchased a basic chrome frame after receiving my new plate. The dealer failed to provide me with brackets and screws so I purchased a little kit that had several sized screws, washers, and connectors. In that kit came 4 connectors with rubber backing on each. I used two of them for the bottom screws of the license plate and washers on the top when screwing into the holes in the trunk to give the plate the same gap behind the plate. Worked like a dream. Here's a link to the kit i found in store. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d..._-1&categoryRedirect=N0308&pt=N0308&ppt=C0155
