^^^ electrical tape on the socket is the way i've always done it.

i swear, i'm a pro at removing those now. i can completely remove the entire rear deck (including both sail panels) in 5 minutes flat.

Rear Driver Side Airbag Pillar broken what to do

So I have been haing a squeek recently coming from the rear driver side pillar inside the car and I notced that one of the clips on the inside broke off and its making it squeek because it is no longer attached to the pillar fully. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas I could try to reattach it to stop the squeek?

I just fixed both of mine this last weekend. I had to super glue a plastic washer in order to have something the that the screw could seat against.

Or a piece of pre-drilled aluminum angle works well. (Home Depot or Lowes)

I'm concerned if I use a metal washer to fix it as many have... will this metal washer get blown into the side of a passengers head if the airbag went off ???
Well it depends, do you like the people who normally sit in your back seat? If not, don't worry about it!

Seriously though, I think since the screw will be holding the washer in place, and its the plastic thats designed to fail when the airbag goes off, not the screw, I think the washer would stay in place with no worries.

Use a plastic washer or even a neoprene washer, all you really need is something large enough to cover the parts of the tab that haven't broken (yet). I used a small plastic washer on each side and it worked great, other than lining up the holes was a pain in the neck :)

I JB Welded a metal washer to fix the hole, the sail panel is always a biotch to get back on but what I found helps is to stick a piece of duck tape on the back side of the hole, then poke the screw through the duck tape and hole. The duck tape will hold it just enough so you land the screw into the hole and tighten. A small led light between the teeth also helps navigate the nut driver and also getting the nut driver on the nut before pushing the sail panel against the car.

I have a sail panel that had a tab completely broken. I repaired the cracks with some JB Weld and bent up some metal to replace the missing plastic. I put it all together with a couple rivets. Looking how thin the plastic is "if" I had a rear airbag deployment the screw and metal will stay in the car and the sail panel will be mangled and the plastic will break.

Just a few tweaks in the bend and it fit right up.

Sail panels

Not sure if there is a fix to tighten those sagging panels but sure would love to have them squeeze tighter up back there. When I see that gap in the rear view it bugs me. It sounds like a body clip is trying to attach when I push on it but it never seems to catch. Anybody have a solution on that for me?
