Have a new Escalade 2021 and can't really figure out the best way to show pre-recorded videos to the rear entertainment screens. Kids have Amazon tablets but hooking them up didn't work. Open to suggestions.

I'm running an Amazon Fire Stick on ours. You can either connect it to the in-vehicle Wifi or use your phone as a hotspot. We are using the Escalade's wifi and it works great. You just have to turn off the auto stop feature or else the video goes dark at every stoplight. That's about the only "WTF???" design flaw I've been frustrated by, so far.

Have they fixed this design flaw?

Me too. You should be able to stream saved movies from and iPad/iPhone to the screen. It’s stupid you can’t.

What do you mean you can't stream movies from the iPad? You can't play already downloaded content on you iPad or phone and stream via bluetooth or USBC to HDMI? It has to be from something like Roku or Apple TV? Page 176 of the manual shows it should be able to stream via HDMI to USBC/lightning cable adapter from your iPad or iPhone no problem. Not wireless but should still easily stream whatever your Apple device is showing. https://my.cadillac.com/content/dam...dynamic/manuals/2021/cadillac/escalade/2021-cadillac-escalade-owners-manual.pdf

Looks

Look what I found for the outlet turning off with Start/Stop feature ....

Yup. This is exactly what I experience and the only workaround is to remember to turn off auto stop with each crank. If I don’t, a child will yell loudly at me from the backseat. Stupid design.

In truth, I’d like to find the guy that decided default auto stop was a good idea and string him high in a tree. So stupid.

Pretty soon you can get an aftermarket flash done that eliminates this as well as cylinder deactivation amongst other things. This wouldn't void warranty as you aren't increasing performance of the vehicle.

It's the EPA, and it's annoying AF.

The entire RSE system is garbage. You can’t watch any content without adding a third party piece of equipment. The lack of a Blu-ray/DVD drive is ridiculous. There should, at a minimum, be a built in operating system whereby you could access Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, etc directly from the tablet as opposed to having to add another piece of equipment (fire stick, AppleTV, Roku) to then be able to access these apps. The system is not intuitive and for parents with young children it’s nearly useless and very inconvenient as you can’t simply start content from the front seat for the rear passengers to watch. I find this to be completely ridiculous in a six figure vehicle designed for families. Perhaps an operating system is something that could be added via an update? Whoever thought these changes were good ideas should be fired.

Also - I have yet to figure out how to turn the screens on from the back - I can only turn them on from the front. The dealer didn’t know either. Does anyone know how to turn them on from the back?

Tap/hold for a second in the bottom left hand corner of each screen and they will come on. If yours doesn't, it's not operating the way it should.

That doesn’t work for me. Also, I recently downloaded the GM-RSE app hoping that it might bring more functionality. I can’t get the app to work. Has anyone else had any success with the app? It’s poorly rated in the App Store. Here’s the error message I get.

We will finally pick up our Escalade this week. I was hoping it didn’t have that auto stop crap. I really don’t want to have to turn it off every time I start it. I hope there is a way to turn it off permanently. This has to be to most ridiculous feature to show up on vehicles...just stupid

There may be something aftermarket that comes out to disable it permanently, but car manufacturers are unable to make it where you can turn it off permanently.
