Hi there, I searched the forums and couldn't find a similar post, maybe I'm wording this wrong, but has anyone experienced this or know what the culprit could be before I take it to the shop:

This just happened to me twice in the last two days, never felt anything like it before. No incident like a banging or breaking feeling, just started on its own. I presume something in the suspension broke. When taking a long right turn, like an on ramp, to the right, it feels like the whole rear end is moving a few inches to the right then the left then the right, and so on, until the end of the ramp. The rear end is moving around like a wheel is literally about to fall off. Everything is normal driving straight, and at slow 90 degree turns. Only noticed on ramps at 40+.

First check the basics that are supposed to be part of routine maintainence. Put it on a rack and pull the wheels. Then check all of the suspension nuts and bolts for tightness and torque levels. In your case I would pay particular attention to the cradle bolts, both front and rear.

From memory, the last guy to have this problem found a poorly torqued rear lower control arm. I forget the proper name because I usually deal in solid axles (prior to this car) but it's the arm that provides toe-control, I believe. Could also be a worn out bushing in that arm.

I had this exact problem when I bought my car. I took it to the dealer and they said that a bolt in the rear suspension was not properly torqued, they fixed it up and now it's good as new. I don't know specifically where it was, but he took it for a test drive and had it fixed up in 15 minutes, so just check them all and see what is going on.

Regarding undertorqued control arm bolts, we must be talking about the difference between "barely on" and the 100+ ftlbs it requires. I checked mine following that thread, and they were at say, 85 lbs vs the required. Made no difference...

As stated I think tires and alignment play a significant role here too..

I stopped by a trusted performance shop today and they looked under the read and said nothing broken, one of the bolts on the right rear was out of whack, they said it needs a four wheel alignment to fix the problem. Will take it to an alignment place later this week and post more specific results.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm wondering if worn trailing arm bushings have anything to do with that wobble too. I'm getting the same wobble and I've already replaced my rear tires. I'll be investigating further. For a performance car like this to feel unstable at 90 is not acceptable.

Got my '09 CTS4 less than 2 month ago, and noticed exactly the same problem.
Put new tires on, dealer changed rear shocks (new shocks at 50k??), but the wobble is still there.
The irony is that while my car was in the shop, they gave me a loner... it was a CTS4.
Needless to say, this car was glued to the road at all speeds.
At 80mph on long ramps is pretty bad, but over feels like the car feels like a mustang trying to get rid of the rider.
Was hoping that maybe since last post, somebody found a solution...
