Hi Everyone,

Just took delivery of my 09 cts v and so far I am very impressed. I'm coming out of a 06 e 55 so this car had big shoes to fill and it is doing a great job. The car has no squeaks or rattles which drives me crazy although I only have about 500 miles on it. After a day or so of driving it I noticed a strange coming from the rear end area. First it was when I pulled into the garage up the driveway. It was a repeated da da da da sound (sorry for the bad sound description, it's hard to describe and not that loud. It seems to go away after the car gets moving over 10 mph. By the way, my car is a manual. Anyone else notice this? Thanks for the feedback.

I had the same noise, it was kind of like a binding feeling/sound ? - if so mine went away when i flushed out the diff fluid at 700miles

ive noticed all recent tremec trannys to be rather noisy in idle, making a strange rattling noise. Happens in the z06 with the t-56 and the gt500 with tr-6060.

maybe its that?

Thanks for the quick responses. I don't think I described the noise very well. It's more harmonic in nature not really a binding sound but I will try the diff flush at some point and see if that works. It's not loud and I'm thinking it might be normal and I'm just being over sensitive. Thanks again.

Hi:
I have a 08 CTSV new in 4/08 and until 10/08 I had a (I think) a somewhat similar noise, like a harmonic buzz which was in tune with engine compression/exhaust and would only make the noise while in gear and at idle. Out of gear it went away and as soon as I excellerted, it went away. Dealer fixed it when replaced the plastic push clips in the plastic body panel under the rear end.

It could be something like that. As I let the clutch out and the car accelerates to about 5 mph I hear a soft but distinct wah wah wah sound that doesn't seem like the exhaust or wheel noise. Sometimes it's louder that others. I'm taking it to the dealer for their opinion. Too bad they don't have another 6 speed to compare. I don't think an auto will do it. When I baby mine from a stop until the clutch is fully released then gently apply the throttle it doesn't make the noise.
