My 2011 ESV has a noisy diff. It makes a wah wah gear sound. It sounds like the rear diff, but could be the center diff. I have never had a car that I could hear this. It doesn't sound proper to me. I have 1500 miles. It is not loud, but easily heard. I would much prefer a silent set of gears.

The tech says it is the sound of the new six speed trans, with some kind of "lock up" technology. Which means it is a problem isolated to the 2011's I think.

Does anyone have a silent diff? Or is it just me or my car?

Thanks.

Mine is quiet but maybe you have a bad wheel bearing. This happened to a car my sister had.Go back to the dealer and ask to drive another 2011. I bet the General Manager is driving one as a demo.

Pretty sure there is a recall for bad rear diff bearings on the 11's, mine was not in the recall number and makes no noise like the rest of my Escalade's, if you have noise that is not right, see if the dealer has another 11' you can drive to check for yourself. :)
