So I decided to call around to dealers in my area (BC lower-mainland) to inquire about the CT4-V Blackwing, and most of them told me upfront that they either do not expect to get any allocations or that the wait was in the range of 4+ years. (Dunno if they'll even be producing the car in 4 years, but anyways...)

However one dealer was quick to accept a deposit and indicated an approximate wait of 2 years. I asked how many people already in line and they said about 25.
Does this sound realistic (i.e. dealer averaging ~1 allocation/month), or are chances of me getting an allocation in 2 years basically nil?

I'm able to wait out the 2 years, and obviously I can get my deposit back at any time, but if the dealer is just outright lying and I really have no chance at ever seeing the car, then I'd rather just get my deposit back now.

Crazy time to be in the market for a new vehicle.

Is Canada that bad for availability? Lots of CT4-BW's in stock here in the US, many of them at MSRP. A quick check on Cadillac's page shows 592 new CT4-BWs in stock in the US... quite a few to choose from.

No way would I put a deposit in for a 2 year wait on a CT4-BW. It would have to be something really special for a 2 year wait. I don't even think I'd wait 2 years from deposit to delivery for a C8 Z06 or the possibly upcoming ZR1. 2 years is just a crazy long wait time, especially when there's almost 600 of them sitting on dealer lots just south of your border.

Just got back from test driving one today actually, my local dealer has 4 in stock and 1 more en route. They would have had 1 less in stock had they not lowballed me on the trade-in value of my ATS-V...

It's bad for almost anything remotely desirable. I've been waiting 9 months and counting for a Golf R.

And you're right, I literally see a BW in the spec I would want sitting on a lot in Seattle. Might have to look into importing... not sure how complicated or costly the process is though.

Not sure on the difficulties of importing from the US to Canada, but yes, the inventory finder on Cadillac's webpage is actually quite handy when searching for a specific configuration that might be in inventory somewhere. Be nice if you could get that one in Seattle up to Canada with minimal hassles.

Unfortuantely, it's the way things are. Between the problems actually making anything, compounded by it being a specialty car being produced in low volume, compounded by what's looking like a delay in '23 MY Blackwing production... you get where I'm going with this. It's part of why I gave up waiting for my order when I found a CT4-V Blackwing at CarMax, and they offered a ludicrous value on my trade.

It might be worth it to look in to what importing would involve, but also just keep digging around for inventory in Canada, something might pop up (like it did for me). Worst case you might have to ride out the order, best case you might find something close enought to what you're want through another channel.
