Re: 2011 STS Big Brake Option for the Rear Installation

Would like to install large rotor 320 mm and perhaps a caliper upgrade at the rear. The factory installed small rotor 298 mm, or smaller. The stopping power is very weak. Thoughts and suggestions? The current caliper is factory, which is similar to Duralast Bracketed PN: 18-B4875.

Thanks in advance.

Rear brakes don't do much of the work, regardless. I'd recommend upgrading the fronts if you can't brake hard enough to engage the ABS. If you can feel the ABS working through your brake pedal, you need tires, not brakes.

But it's your car, have fun!

I have a set of JE5 320mm Drilled/Slotted rear rotors and Akebono ceramic pads that are almost new. $75 + shipping. I also have the upgrade Drilled/Slotted JE5 front rotors, PBR calipers, Akebono ceramic pads for the front, also almost new. PM me to make a deal!

The rear brakes do maybe 15-25% of the work. Don't bother.

I have JE5 OEM rotors. You can pick it up if you are somewhere in the 18031 area.

You dont have to change the caliper to get the bigger brakes, you only need the bracket and rotor thats it.

Wrong

JE5 does NOT share the caliper with JL9. They are in fact different.

Hmmm I know this is an old post. Do you still have the rear JE5 Caliper brackets? My Caliper pins are stuck in the bracket (rear). I'm having a hard time finding these brackets for the rear online. Most of them seem to be for JL9 set ups.
