Hello all,
I've got an 02 STS that I've had for about 3 weeks. I have a question
for the great and wise sages of this forum. Is there a way to keep
the RDS info crawling across the screen. Currently I have to press the
MSG button to see this info but it goes away quickly. Also, what does
the PTY button do? The Radio is the Bose w/cd and cd changer and
weather band.

PTY is "program type" and as you can see, if you scroll you can see anything from weather to talk, to college, to top 40, etc. There is also a PTY-Any, meaning the radio will seek, until it finds a station that broadcasts PTY.

I'm afraid that there aren't many instructions or specifications i can give you, but the little that I know I gained mostly from reading the user manual. Have you checked it out in there?

I don't think you can get the message to keep going, unless it's being broadcast that way at the station... what you did... hitting the MSG button, is the only way I know to view this info.

unfortunately not all stations broadcast information, and the ones that do, broadcast it on their own terms--there's no preset protocol.

Thanks for the response. On Mine, pressing the PTY button produces nothing.
what i mean by that is nothing happens at all. The only way I can see the song
name, artist, and station is if I press the MSG button. It will show this info once
and then goes back to the frequency. We do have stations that broadcast the
info in my area (Nashville, TN) My father in laws 02 Lincoln LS shows this info
unless you press some combination of buttons. The STS owners manual does not really say much about this feature on the radio
any ideas?

The pty button on the 02 STS does nothing... Unless you have the satellite XM option...

Does your '02 drop the stacker from the list of options? Mine did... PTY radios that do nothing have this problem... If the dealer fixed it the PTY button should display "NO SATELLITE SYSTEM"
