I put a new battery in my '94 deville and now the fuel range is reading "LO" even though theres 12 gallons of gas in the tank where the miles until empty in the iformation center reads "0.0". what gives here? Is there something that will reset itself or needs to be reset,if so how do I do this? I know my fuel pump is bad could this be a sending unit issue maybe?,although it diddn't do this until the battery died. I've updated with a pic of my instrument panel so you can see what I'am talking about. Its doing this after having a dead battery for a week.

I would normally think the sending unit in the tank, but it is very strange that this happened right when the battery went dead. No corrosion on the cables? Try bouncing the back end just to see if sloshing gas frees up a stuck float by chance. If that is no help, maybe pull battery power again. I'm really just grasping at straws here.

Ranger I tried bouncing the back end and nothing have you ever seen this before? Also theres no corrosion that I can find on my battery cables any other ideas here? If my sending unit has failed then woulden my fuel ( the 12 gallons) laeft in the tnak reading be messed up to? I'am really stumped here.

Can't say that I have ever seen this before but I seem to recall someone posting something similar. Can't recall if it was here or at caddyinfo or what, if anything, the solution was. I'd check the electrical connections at the tank. Maybe some corrosion there.

when the volts get less then 10 sometimes the ECM / BCM will self reset. causing the fuel mpg to reset, hence LOW. usually itll still say how many gallons... E (blinking ) E (solid) 2-15 then F never seen 0 in there.... usually driving it for a few minutes helps it learn its mpg.
