can't tell you how to fix but I can tell you what happened. The serial data bus (which includes the security system) goes through the head unit. When you cut wires, the car thinks itself or some component is being stolen, so it locks everything down. Our resident expert on this is Ron93. Crutchfield sells adapters and harnesses.
Radio won't come on now and car will not start after trying to install a aftermarket amp and subs.
I have a 2005 Cadillac STS with a 4.6 l V8 and I was trying to install some subwoofers and an amp in the trunk without having to take apart the dashboard I just ran it off the speaker wires that went to the sub in the back and when I was done hooking it up for some reason my radio doesn't come on now and my car won't start. It's trying to start but it seems like it's not getting spark or fuel. I already checked the radio fuse and replaced it even though it didn't look like it was blown. What else could it be.?

Put everything back to stock and see it it all still works.How can I tell if the radio is truly dead? Take it apart and check the boards and see if there fried?
Did you change the stereo too or just try to add subs? Did you use the right integration harness ? These cars are a little more complicated than just plugging a new stereo into the dash.
The sound system is not "dead". Because it is part of the entire car's TheftLock, security, content theft, and serial data systems the car has locked itself. Ignition and fuel are disabled in the main PCM. The sound system must be restored to original and then the car needs to be unlocked by a dealership or GOOD autosound shop with access to the GM vehicle online database.How can I tell if the radio is truly dead? The reference to Crutchfield (Sound) is that they have all the advice and necessary harnesses, connectors, and jumpers to for sound system work on all these cars.
