Just curious, anyone know who holds the record for the fastest V in the 1/4 mile? I saw something somewhere that claimed to have the quickest V at 11.90 or something like that. Is that correct? And if so, why just 11.90? I know the car isn't really made to be a drag car, but I would still think there would be a few 10 sec V's out there considering the motor that's in the car.

The Mallett CTS-V in this challenge placed 1st in sedan class and even trumped 2 cars in the unlimited (two-seat class).

It's 1/4 mile time of 12.4 was not all that impressive though.
By comparison, even the 2nd place 475HP EVO could only do an 11.6.
Note: These cars were on road-race tires not drag radials.
Believe it or not the V only won (the over-all) because of its better reliability & consistency.

Look at that trap speed 125mph thats enough for it to run low 11's better traction or better driver thats where it should be. Crappy mag tests :hmm:

You got to figure it's not a rubbered in drag strip and the cars are set up for road corse performance, not 1/4 mile dragging.
It's more equivalent to what one would get any given day on a public road.
Other than the CTS-VR's I believe that was the all-around fastest V.

Notice that the Mallett CTS-V had a much faster trap speed than the Lingenfelter even though his e.t. was slower most of the time. It would be interesting to see what their short times were. I suspect the Lingenfelter ran with traction control and the Mallett didn't turn his on until the last run which would account for the four 13 sec passes before the 12.38. Is there a gearing difference between the 2 V's that could account for the difference in trap speeds? I'd really like to see the numbers with drag radials or ET Streets.

There were a couple aftermarket options, but one is gone for sure and I haven't kept up with Madman's offering.

Be careful about believing what's on Dra times, people post without time slips and documentation or even names. I doubt the VR was ever on a drag strip, however I don't doubt it could run that time.
