I have a 1992 Deville, on the electronic temp. control, to turn the AC on do I turn the temp. degrees all the way down to 60 and then have it on AUTO or ECON? I turned it onto AUTO and the air coming out wasn't cold. If I did it correctly, then how do I recharge the AC? Can I go to Autozone and get a recharge bottle but where to I put it into under the hood.

Thanks in advance

You set it to AUTO (A/C) or ECON (no A/C) and set thge temp where you want it. Pull the DTC's. You may be low on freon and that will disable the compressor. No, you cannot got to AZ and buy freon. Unless it has been converted , the '92 uses R12 refrigerant and you cannot buy that over the counter any longer. You have to take it to an A/C shop.

Pull the codes using off and warmer, If you get F46-47 or maybe F48 that is a low refrigerant condition. If you press auto an it kicks back to econ that means it low and should set a Service Air Conditioner light. Ranger is right, it came with R12 factory so unless someone has converted it you will have to do more then just a AZ can to refill it.
