Hi, We got a 2014 CTS 4 2.0 L recently. I think I have figured out pretty much everything so far except for the green car icon on the left lower part of the customizable 5.7 inch display. I can't tell what it is and it is not in the manual either. This green car shaped icon comes on intermittently and when it is not showing, the odometer reading is displayed in that area. Any thoughts on what it is? I could probably take a picture and upload it if that would help.

I think what you are referring to is the following to close warning. If it is green you are Good. If it turns amber you are to close to the car in front of you. At least
that how it is on my CTS. Also if there is no car in front of you it does not show at all.

Oh really? I never thought about that. However, I have never seen it turn amber though. I will keep a closer eye on it. There is also a collison alert heads up display with the 4 red lights - but I guess that is only for a imminent collison warning.

Thank you very much for the prompt response. I have read through all the pertinent sections of the owner's manual and there is absolutely no mention of it at all!

In order to make it turn amber your foot needs to be on the throttle, Not just coasting up on a vehicle. I guess the computer knows your foot is off the gas and not under power
and will not give you any warning. This also applies to the collision avoidance system, You won't get any blinking red lights or beeping if your foot is off the gas.

The owners manual could be written a bit better. Some things are covered (mentioned) in sections that don't relate to each other.

If green then you are at a safe distance behind vehicle in front of you - turns to orange if too close. If nothing in front of you - odometer shows. This display is part of the option avoidance system activated by touching the upper left icon display next to the CUE screen. If you get very close the red lights and seat nudging will happen. Over on the right side next to screen is the Lane crossover alert when not using blinkers.

Correction - button to the left of CUE screen is not the top one - thats for flashers. The button to enable the car icon and red lights when you approach a vehicle too quickly is just below the flasher button.

I have the premium cluster, but I think that green car ice you are talking about is the accident avoidance feature telling you that it has :spotted" a vehicle in front of you. Does it only appear when you are following someone? That's what mine does. If I get too close it changes to amber. I hope this helps.
