Question on security messages

A while back I left my car unlocked and the whole stereo dash console was stolen, a new one was installed and when programming it a message appeared in my dash "snapshot taken" I have a 2001 STS. Does it really have a snapshot and if so would it maybe have one of the thief?

When it says "snapshot taken", they don't mean a photograph. It probably refers to the state of the computers in the car. It won't help you find the perp. Call the dealer and ask them what the message means.
