I just made a deposit for a 2011 CTS base coupe. Excited as I was, I started reading as much as I could about the car, because the dealer did not have one to show me at the time. My fault I suppose, for not paying attention.

2 Questions:

Does the base coupe have an aux input? I considered it a given since most cars have had them since 06. The website says no. The salesman said yes.

Any more permanent and reliable solutions for the lack of a spare tire?

Thanks for your time and responses!

I can't speak with certainty for the new Coupe, but I researched the auxiliary port quite extensively on the Sedan after wanting to know if lower models had one. What I found was that all Sedan models have an auxiliary port standard. It's at the lower back of the center console. What I think the website probably references (for both Coupe and Sedan) is the USB/auxiliary ports that come with the optional hard drive stereo systems. I would be speechless if GM was stupid enough to completely remove the auxiliary port for the CTS. But when you consider even the base Cobalt has one, I'm going to say that your Coupe will have one too.

Mine is a base Coupe with the performance package, and I don't know if the package makes any difference. Here's what I have:

1. auxiliary input in the storage compartment directly below the climate control
2. auxiliary input in the center console
3. USB port in the center console
4. auxiliary input in the storage compartment on the rear of the center console

I'm not well versed in auxiliary inputs, so I will describe the ones mentioned above in #1,2 & 4 as looking like a cigarette lighter connection. I use #1 to plug in my GPS.

Here is a link to the owner's manual, and if you go to pages 1-17, 1-21 and 7-35, it will describe these power outlets in more detail:

Hope that helps.

Edit: Regarding the lack of a spare tire, are you aware there is a repair kit stored in a well below the trunk?

somedaycts, I remembered reading in the manual about a 3.5mm input, and as I mentioned I am not well versed in these things.

On page 1-17 of the manual, it says:

Portable Audio Devices
This vehicle has a 3.5 mm (1/8 in)
auxiliary input and a USB port
located in the center console.
External devices such as iPods®,
laptop computers, MP3 players, CD
changers, and USB storage devices
may be connected, depending on
the audio system.

I remember seeing a tiny little opening near the USB port, so that must be what that is. Ha ha! Sorry to be so dense. So, add a #5 to my list above:

5. 3.5mm input in the lower storage compartment of the center console.

It appears that there are two options for the '11 Coupe, codes UAV and U2T.

The Base model gets code U2T: Audio system, AM/FM stereo with single-slot CD player and MP3 playback with Radio Data System (RDS) and Bose premium 8-speaker system.

The Performance Collection has an option to select code UAV (standard on Premium and V Coupes): Audio system with navigation, AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD player, MP3 playback, Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround Sound 10-speaker system and HDD-based navigation with XM NavTraffic/Real Time Weather, 8" pop-up screen, Radio Data System (RDS), 40GB Hard Drive Device (HDD), USB with audio connectivity with steering wheel controls. The conflict witht he RPO codes is that the sales brocure indicates the Performance Collection has the 40G hard drive and USB Connectivity (without nav).

My '11 Coupe has Nav and both the 3.5mm and USB in the console.

On prior sedans, you used to be able to get the 40G hard drive without navigation and that had both the USB and 3.5mm jacks (Code U2S). This option now appears to be gone for the Coupe, but available on the sedan: Audio system, AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD player, MP3 playback and Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround Sound 10-speaker system with Radio Data System (RDS), 40GB Hard Drive Device (HDD), USB and audio connectivity with steering wheel controls.

The specs on the Cadillac website indicate that "Auxilliary Audio Input Jacks" are not available on the base '11 Coupe. I'm not sure if this is USB or if you only get the 3.5mm jack that connects to the headphone output of your MP3 player / iPod. I'm still somewhat confused as well...

Mine has the Performance Collection features with the 40 gig hard drive but WITHOUT navigation or the pop-up screen. It has the 5 inputs as mentioned above.

Great investigative work, louisfl99. The words "MP3 playback" surely indicates some sort of aux. input, right? Gosh, we may have to wait until john5718 gets his car to know what it has. :hmm:

I think mp3 playback means it will play songs off a disc that are recorded in .mp3 format. A friend gave me a CD with probably 100 songs on it and I was able to read and dump them all on the hard drive directly from the CD. No way that many songs would fit in standard CD format.
