Replacing the a/c compressor this week and was wondering for replacing just the compressor do I add 2 ounces or should I just go with how much I get out of the old one (if thats possible) or is controlled some other way? Also, should I do this before I install the compressor or does it need to be mounted first and is it added to the compressor or somewhere else in the system?

Per my '03 FSM. Drain and measure the oil from both ports on the compressor. Rotate the shaft while doing it. The new compressor comes with 2.5 oz. of oil in it. If more than 2.5 oz. was drained, add the difference directly to the compressor before installation. If less than 2.5 was drained, add no oil and install with what it was shipped with.
