When did Cadillac start using magnetic ride control on the STS and how can I tell if a car has it?

Late 2002 on the STS
Standard on 2003 STS

open your trunk look under the tire cover
if you have an rpo code F55 you have mag ride

 ^^^^ Exactly. BTW, use the search function ^^^ for "RPO" and decipher the sticker referred to by STS2003. Have your dealer run a GM service history for your VIN. Keep it all for reference..........

So aside from the RPO code, theres no other way to identify that it's got the MRC?

yuh the vin
theres a cut off though i forget what the exact number is its has 2U2 in it...
another easy way is the exhaust tips
if they are the quad tips on an STS (look like the SLS) then its a mag car
if its an 02 with the rectangle end tip then its an older non mag

You'd think I might know better, I've gotten so complacent about this stuff, I hope I'm right here. The Mag ride struts have a small connector at the base of the strut that plugs directly into the strut - as opposed to the others which had a pigtail coming out of the strut. And, the strut shaft is huge - oh my...what a large shaft you have. Ooooh that's just wrong.

Yeah, but there's no badges anywhere that say something like "Magna ride" or something like that. Wierd.
