Even if it’s a simple installation that would run $400 from a local electrician? The program structure is inherently flawed. The market rate for an installation is determined by competitive bids from independent electricians. So, if you are Qmerit, your price should be $1,500 plus a little less than an indepednent installation going rate. That way, the consumer gets a little discount, and Qmerit wins the business with a tidy little premium. Just by basic rules of economics, every Qmerit quote should be over $1,500.
Pretty much. Just think about basic human nature and economics... If you are Qmerit, what incentive do you have to price that installation at $400? None. The only control would be GM somehow monitoring and auditing for quote-inflation. So, your first thought would be, hey, lets price it at $800. It's funny money, after all. Then after a year of doing it, you realize you were leaving money on the table. So you bump it up to $1,300 to stay below the GM radar. But then the light bulb comes on, and you price it at $1,700...Even if it’s a simple installation that would run $400 from a local electrician?

Even at $1,700, the consumer only pays $200 for a $400 installation. So win-win.
you should get an email with the offer details at a certain point during your ordering/delivery process of the car. i'd recommend you contact your dealer/salesperson for details. What is the process for getting the QMerit install quote/installation? Do you have to have an allocation before you can start it? I would like to havemy Level 2 charger installed prior to taking delivery and if QMerit is going to be cheaper then the electrician of my choice, i'll want to go that route.
I think it’s suppose to happen when the dealer has been informed your car is being transported as well as confirming your purchase. What is the process for getting the QMerit install quote/installation? Actually in my case I received a notification to schedule the Qmerit install last August. The install occurred last September. My Debut Edition is still not delivered!I think it’s suppose to happen when the dealer has been informed your car is being transported as well as confirming your purchase.
If a buyer can’t get financed or something else happens. Getting the QMerit or EVgo reallocated is probably a chore and you are out reimbursement.
Either way, coordinate with your dealer to stay in touch!
no, but the way it worked for me was >Does getting multiple electricians out to get different quotes from Qmerit have any costs or as all in person Qmerit quotes free?
This was very informative as I also plan on using the QMerit credit to install my first L2 in the garage so wasn't particularly sure how the whole process goes. Thanks!no, but the way it worked for me was >
- qmerit found a local installer in my area
- they came out to take measurements
- i got a final quote via email that i didn't like
- i called qmerit to complain about huge difference between initial and final quote, they found another locall installer for me
- the second installer send me a final quote without visiting
- i accepted the quote and they contacted me to schedule the install, and it was completed
