I'll be waving goodbye to the Q45 this winter. Its been the best (and fastest) 50,000 miles of my life, but its time to move on to something cheaper to fill up and maintain and of course newer.

This of course is only if I take the job offer that I received on Thursday. I dont have to work, since I'm a student and my basic expenses are covered, but I love cars. I can't just have the Maxima as my only vehicle -- I bought it as a snowplow. My C.U. is willing to loan $10k on a used car 2000 and newer. I'll have about two grand to put down with payments probably around $225/mo for four years.

Basically, lets call it $10,000, 2000 and newer. What should I get?

2001 STS.

Make sure to check for Intermediate Steering Shaft problems as this is common on these and requires removal, lubing and reinstallation of the shaft component to fix the problem.

Now Jesda, do you want a more european type of luxury sedan (STS, LS), or would you want a land yacht like a Fleetwood Brougham? They get decent gas mileage (17-18 city), and only need 87 octane. I hear the 91-97 Lincoln Town Cars get like 18-19mpg, which is awesome considering how large they are.

Just throwing some ideas out there

Oh yah thats right, after i posted that, I remembered how it had to be newer than 2000. Shoot.

Jesda, have you ever thought of a 2002-03 Nissan Maxima? I drove one and i think they're really nice. It's probably drives a lot like the Q45 you have, very quick, quiet, handles nice, 22mpg about. I LOVE the VQ series 3.5 V6 they have in these. 255hp, and its got a very wide powerband. It literally does not stop pulling at all through the RPM range. I believe they can go from anywhere from $15k-$21k

Didnt you have other issues with yours? Or was it just a bad dealership?

I'm going to say 2000 or 2001 DTS. I think they look just as sporty as an STS but I don't think you will save that much gas going with a car like this.....

Ideally, it would be nice to get an even newer DTS because I know how nice they ride and the power they have but they might still be too expensive or more than you'd be willing to pay...
