Hello- Ive been lurking these forums for about a week. Im from Wichita KS and the selection here sucks... found some really nice cts's in OKC amd Texas- I found a 06 cts at a dearlership- contaced him and got approved. i saw a post that had a vin checkere that listed the options and when i went put in the vehicle's vin im planning on buying- the results kinda made me iffy-
So im asking for your guys advice- i dont wanna call the guy up and call him a liar and get down there and find out he was telling me the truth- i dont wanna make my self look like an ass. becuase i dont know how accurate the vin checker is that i used

I was really wanting the lsd and xenon lights but i didnt see those codes listed--- ive tried calling the dealership and the guy is out for the week- im supposed to head down there next week- any help in regards to decoding this will be GREATLY apreciated!

Can anybody throw me a bone here? I guess what I'm really trying to find out is the accuracy of those Vin checker websites... From what I listed it looks like the car doesnt have xenons....no LSD... But the dealer I'm buying it from lists those as options the car has.. Is there anyway the car came with those options and it wouldn't be listed on those codes?

Sorry buddy, but I don't think first time posters have their post actually posted for several hours. I keep on seeing that trend. I don't see the original posting until the next day or what not.

Anyways, back to your problem. In order for us to help you, you need to post the VIN so that we can check it. There are two give aways to having factory HID. One, 17" or 18" factory rims. However, now a days I wouldn't trust that with some many people swapping out rims. The second thing is headlight washers. The headlights have to be turned on and then press the windshield wash. The headlight sprayers will come out twice and spray the headlights.

As for memory seats, well if it has heated seats then it has memory seats.

How about posting the advertisement for the CTS and we can look at it.

The car advertised is pretty much how I wanted it... In my attempt to learn more about these cars and options( there's so many!) I think I confused myself...but now I'm sketched out that dealer my be dishonest? For example listing LSD... But the Vin site said gu6 which is non LSD right? Here's the vehicle

GU6 is 3:42 gear ratio in the rear end..
G80 is Limited slip differential with most Gm's that I know of.

Well if you want the memory seats and factory HID, you won't get it on that CTS.

That one is as base model as you can get. No heated seats, the lack of buttons on the hvac is a give away. No buttons for memory seats on the drivers door. 16" wheels, therefore no factory hid lights.

Good luck on your shopping though. Glad you came here to inquire about that CTS. Oh and another reason that they are "lying" whether they know it not... They list it as Front Wheel Drive, no CTS 1st or 2nd gen is FWD. All 1st gen was RWD, while AWD was an option for the 2nd gen CTS.

thanks for the reply I really appreciate itI got to say I'm really disheartened considering I had financing lined up...I called them up and they're looking into it they're going to call me back.this sucks because this might be a dealbreaker for me, I was really wanting a factory HID look instead of a plug in play kit...as well as the LSD.... And I've always wanted heated seats...I would've never had guessed it was a base model! I saw the fwd thing... I knew it was a screw up..guess it should've made me more suspicious.

Yeah, if a listing details a CTS as FWD that should tell you all you need to know about the seller...just walk, not deserving of your hard earned money if they can't get a simple listing correct.

This is what the driver's door looks like with the memory buttons. Which by the way, the heated seats and memory seats are in the same package. Unless it's a Canadian model, apparently they all came with heated seats. They have some cold asses up there. :-/

Even though this video was done with a CTS-V, it is the same exact way the CTS sprays the headlights.

I agree completely with KOT. This is the most basic CTS. I personally wouldn't even go look at it considering you wanted more options. You want a car with no regrets, trust me I learned my lessons with my old cars. Plus once you go down there they will talk and talk and try and pressure you into closing the deal. Some dealers know nothing about the vehicles they are selling (ie. the FWD thingy) which means he has no vehicle history as well, I am assuming. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, great cars by the way!

hevenz... Did the dealer mention the broken knob for the passenger side HVAC vent? I am willing to bet that they have not. So if you are still considering this, which I really hope that you are not, make sure that they replace that for you. After all, you are traveling several hours for it. I actually traveled 2 hours one way for mine. But I killed two birds with one stone. Picked up a Cadi, and got to see Orange Count Choppers way back in December of 2008.

If you want no regrets, just get a V. I love my CTS to death but to be honest, I really just needed a V....

And I can't stand that particular interior color they put in 06-07 CTS's.... There is no coordination, I hate that ugly weird beigey grey, I hate the big gap where a tape player would be on earlier CTS's, I hate how the Vol/Tune lettering is awkwardly printed to the upper side of the button because of the wood trim, I hate the wood trim on the console because it just looks awkward and incomplete, I hate the new shifter stick and how it has no leather wrapping to it. I hate how the center console is tan yet the cup holders are black....there's just too many colors, shades, and things going on. It looks like it has evolved in a weird way rather than being designed from the ground up with everything thought through. The black interior looks 10x better IMO, and even the 03, early 04 dark grey interior with beige carpeting looks way better.

It has most options i wanted but not the LSD or the HID's- I really wanted the factory look- im betting i wont get the cool shimmer effect with a PnP 5000k kit. Arent the hid projectors made special for HID's? ive always thought projectors were different for halogen lights

That looks in far better condition buddy. And a great price too, plus white diamond is the best paint color by far
You'll like it! And if you want the HID's you can always buy the factory HID's headlights and install the legit factory stock ones yourself. Granted, they'll be about $600 a piece and hardly better than a good aftermarket set for a fraction of the cost, but you can do it.
You can also upgrade to the 18" OEM sport wheels if you want like I'm doing. And install factory nav, and upgrade to FE3 or FE5 suspension. Essentially you can make a base CTS into a complete Sport/Luxury CTS by yourself given you've got some cash and basic skills. The only things you really can't realistically do is install a sun roof...

You know what I will tell Well Fargo. I would tell them that you have a better deal and that the dealership that they original financed through is a bit shady. I mean come on 11 months later and that car is still on the lot at the same damn price?

If they say no. I will sign up at credit karma.com and check my credit report once a month. It's free and what not, no need to provide a credit for "billing" for when there is none. I've been using them since October 2012 and haven't seen a bill. I will just do that as a precaution.

You are correct, halogen projectors do not have a horizontal cut off like a HID projector does. Even though the lens looks the same from the outside, there are different guts on the inside. And if you are in a state that has inspections, be careful. As they will be able to tell what type of lens you have by the DOT stamp. If the inspector knows the difference, light wise, from a halogen to a HID. Your in for a failed inspection.

At least that one is the color that you want and it has heated seats with memory.
