Hey, As anyone on the east coast knows, it has been raining for a good solid week now. this evening, after frustrating battle with some kind of electical Hoo-haw, i noticed my top was a little distorted. It Looked alot like your fingertips after swimming in the pool for a few hours... Im just curious if this is normal for a top that has been soaking for a week or whatever.

Mmmm shouldn't... My car is outside too and I live in NJ. my top doesn't look like that then again it's like 7 months old since I had it replaced in like April. Shouldn't do that, that's bad because if moisture's trapped under there, it'll rot your roof. Not good.

If it's properly sealed it won't do that. Perhaps if it drys out without rotting or getting mildew or something you can have it resealed. I know mine on my old 78 wasn't sealed properly, it didn't do what you're describing but it left a residue on the rear window. A shop gave me a quote for resealing it, I never had it done but it is do-able.

Well, it is the original vinyl top. It is all in tact besides a 2 inch tear towards the back. Im guessing though, that the vinyl is actually a bit dry-rotted and water made its way in. Doesnt bother me all that much, Becasue I am planning on replacing the top when I repaint the car, was just wondering if anyone had similar experiance.
Right about now its probly the least of my problems. The electrical issues I were battling are another story.Seems I have a short circuit somewhere or another that comes out whenever its cold. Lol, the car didnt run yesterday, but i bet once i go to see whats wrong with it now, itll run perfectly.Mabey my car is haunted? I guess thats a question to be asked on another forum....

The top dried out and returned to its original condition before I could get photos to post. I noticed some water seeping out from the rear bottom of the top, so im guessing the water found a way in.
Just curious Dopestar...Where in NJ do you live? I could use a hand making my caddy look nice like yours :cool2:

Lol, Well, at least Im not the only one that cant drive my caddy too far. In the winter I get phantom electrical problems and the summer bad air / fuel ratio problems. Thinking this week im going to replace all my vacume lines and try to get my alternater rebuilt..heard theres a diode in them that blows ot making all kinds of weird shit happen. gonna check all my fuses today and see if any are burnt out. Gotta replace my egr and probly rebuild the carb. then of course find the power steering fluid leak and then mabey...MABEY itll make it there. Lol, wish me luck

I checked those, they are securely rusted in place. I think I spotted the leak. looks like a rubber hose was too large to get on a fitting, so the previous owners put a clamp on there WAY too tight, causing the hose to be cut. Ill let you know if that was actually it.
