Bigleo, it sounds exactly like the fuel pressure regulator is leaking on your car. It probably needs to be replaced. I had the same problem and a new fuel pressure regulator (FPR) fixed it right up. About $50 and 5 minutes if you do it yourself, or who knows how much to have a service shop do it.

If you're so inclined, take off the beauty cover from the top of the engine and locate the fuel rail that goes between all the injectors. The FPR is the only thing on the fuel rail that has a vacuum line connected to it. Disconnect the vacuum line and start the engine. If you see fuel coming out of the FPR where the vacuum line was, the FPR is leaking and needs to be replaced for sure.

I'm 99.999% sure that's your problem. Let us know what you do and how it turns out. We'll answer your questions as best we can.

thank you mike. i just replaced the fpr and it wass exactly what you said. i am not handy, therefore i had a mechanic do it and it cost me 79 dollars. not bad! thanx again

i have the same problem. i did replace the FPR and i still have the problem. my mechanic friend said its probably leaky fuel injectors and those run $180 each so its not worth replacing all eight of them on a car that has 140k miles.

If you pull the injectors out of the intake and leave them connected to the fuel rail, you can turn on the ignition and probably see which one is leaking. That one can be cleaned or replaced as necessary for a lot less expense than they quoted you. New injectors are about $75 each if you get them from a parts place like www.rockauto.com or www.gmpartsdirect.com. Once you've identified which one it is, you can replace it yourself in just a few minutes. The whole process is about a medium-skill exercise for a do-it-yourselfer. You can get it fixed and save yourself a bundle of cash if you are so inclined. Let us know and we will help you.
