The 2006 STS-V I just bought is still on its way but has only 1 fob. I still have #2 fob from my previous sts-v. They are the original fat/round. Are the instructions online to program it or is it dealer only procedure? If so is there a way to program the newer style thin/flat fobs to my 2006?

Search the non V threads. I know it's there somewhere. I had to reprogram my fobs when I got my car since they were programmed as #3 & #4. Remote start & seat functions were not working.
It's not hard to do, just need to follow the process.

Oh Okay thanks but do you know If the newer flat fobs can be programmed to replace my older round fob?

Yes, flat fobs work in cars that came with rounded fobs.

I have a 2012 Cadillac key I programmed myself works perfect. Google it you'll find programming procedure kinda a pain if I remember.
