We have been working with the engineers at GM on the fuel pump issue and apologize for not getting back with everyone on these questions. We have done about 2 weeks of normal to Very Very hard daily driving and this is what we found.

10PSI at wide open on our 383

169 degrees intake air temp is the maximum it got

Suspensions seems to be holding quite well. We applied new shocks which seam to help the wheel hop alot. The engine is now a 383CI engine so the internal information I could supply would not be accurate for all engines. We have several different options on the Procharger kit that is being offered at this time. Anyone that needs information, has questions or comments is urged to email us instead of posting here. It may be several days to 2 weeks before we check this out due to R&D on the Cadillac. We would like to keep up with everyone and that is the perfect way. We will be working this coming week on the new fuel system that GM is supplying us.

Please see our thread that was started on the cost of the packages and what is included. That will answer everyones questions. The price is not $5995 and is not offered at that. We have made many changes along with GM on what was needed to make this kit the badest kit available. That is now what we offer.

Spoke with Chuck Mallet, he stated that supercharging at even 6lbs of boost will not keep this engine dependable. He claims that the pistons and rods, ets. would need to be replaced to handle it. :rant2:

How sure are you of the durability of the pisitons, pistion rings, rods, etc. over say 120k miles or even 100k, do you think you would argue Chuck's position?

Vedder,

Not trying to defend anyone (More Performance), but there's a lot of LS1 and LS6 supercharged F-bodies and vettes running a lot more than 6 pounds of boost on the stock bottom end. I don't know about reliability on a 100K motor,
but some of those guys have 30to 60K miles and no problems. Most of them are intercooled though. Me personally I think I would prefer a head and cam package, but that's me. Of course for 16K (Mallet), I think I would want more than a 70 horsepower increase at the rear wheels. Just my 2 cents.

The thing that most of the Mallett knockers don't understand (or at least acknowledge here) is that you are getting reliabilty, durability, and resale with his packages. Yeah his stuff is expensive but it is built/designed to stand up to years/miles of abuse. Some of his stuff might end up as dealer installed options...meaning that it has to be able to be dependable (from a cost perspective for GM). Also, his conversion packages are all listed in NADA, so when it comes time to sell/trade your car, the value of the mods are in the book and therefore you will be able to get more for the car vs if you just piece-meal them together. This is the same for Dinan tuned BMWs. I understand the there are cheaper packages out there but if I was going to spend the big $$$ on my car, I would want to know that I'm not just throwing it away when it comes time to sell. Also if you compare his packages to those of Lingenfelter, thay are about the same as far as price and performance go.

I know MANY people tha have Mallett C5s and some of them even have Lingenfelter C5s also and have yet to hear any complaints from any of them...other than the whining from withdrawal when they are waiting to get their cars back!

When speaking with Chuck, I felt as if he knew what he was talking about. But 400 wheel horse power is as good as it gets unless you go with 6.1, 7.0 or whatever...
The supercharger with more is probably a little more pricy but gets you 450 rwhp on stage 1.
I just wonder if the bottom end can stand the life with a supercharger and no intercooler, even at only 6lbs.of boost.:hmm:

ANY ANSWERS MORE PERFORMANCE?:helpless:

Unless the LS-6 is a weaker motor than the LT-1 6 lbs of boost isnt a problem. I ran a turbocharger at 6-9 lbs for 4.5 years. Never had a bottom end problem of any kind. When I sold the car it was still running fine and No oil consumption.
If you are at the track weakly, 7-9 lbs boost might be an issue. Not for a street driver. Also, centrif blower make less heat than a turbo set up.
