Here's one that has everyone I know baffled. When I turn the ignition off on my '98 Deville, the power stays on all the accessories as if the key is in the accessory position even though the key is out, and with the car doors open. (Usually everything goes off when the doors are opened.) Anyway, my local mechanic has been working on it for a week now. He thinks maybe some type of computer needs to be replaced? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No offense, but a lot of mechanics don't have a clue when it comes to electrical problems.
Would need to know what he has done during the week so as not to second guess. It's easy to presume he did the most obvious things, like switch out the RAP relays that would control this phenomenon, and trace the power using a schematic, but IDK, obviously the power is shorted somewhere along the way. Has the battery been disconnected during this "hunt" to reset the memory! Are there any DTC codes showing?

No codes showing, and the battery was disconneted once I got home and realized that was the only way to stop draining the battery. I won't be able to find out what the guy has done already until Monday. Thanks!

best way to start finding the shorted circuit is at the IP fuse box to start pulling fuses one at a time until you find one that will kill the power problem. Do it with ignition off, even tho' the radio, etc will still be on
