I recently put an air filter (K&N cold air) and when I start all be ok and idle 550rpm. When I shift (when I push clutch pedal) the RPM doesn't drop and UP and I need to push brake pedal and it drop... but after 15km the car smeel overheated and pretty sure that is not good. Did anybody can tell me what to do to fix it? I think that the air sensor have bad reading due to the new air filter...! I don't want to put the factory air filter... Please Help! Thanks :worship:

Hi, thanks for your helping but not work at all. I check all the works, pull 15a fuse and the 10a fuse of the ECM. I look that the ECM reset (sound heard). Try the car and the revolution don't drop when I shif and increase... I push the brake and the revolution drop but if I stop to brake the revolution continue to raise. Second I try to reinstall the stock air filter and the bad news was that the car do the same... Can I broke the O2 sensor with my first modification? Or what can do this? I don't want to spend all my money on the dealer (canadian dealer are bad and cost over 85$/H) so if anybody have any idea please help me! Thanks

I called to my cadillac dealer and say to me that it probably the tranny... so I install the new air filter and the tranny (was broke at same time I think...!!!). Anybody have CTS with manual tranny and had problem with...?

the rpm doesn't drop and up??? What are you trying to say?

Are you saying when you shift the rpms hang at whatever rpm you were at before? If thats the case you need a new clutch position sensor. ~$26 part U.S. and a very simple swap, the spring in the sensor goes bad....to test, try and engage your cruise control and push the clutch in. Cruise may not even work.

Otherwise you may have a leak after your mass air flow sensor....your O2 sensor is in your exhaust.

I mean that if I'm in second gear at 4000rpms, I push the clucth in and the rpm stay at 4000 for a second and raise to... 6000 if I don't brake (with clutch in). That was you talking about? I'll try it right now with the cruise. Thanks a lot!

I will have my part tomorow... so I will tell you if this is right! If you can provide much more informations and pictures for the swap please, It will be simple. Thanks

Is there an area in Canada that is so remote, the people actually annunciate and write like they are from a third world country? Never knew that...anyway...

Nikon is probably right on the clutch position sensor - start there...

Ya I speak english well but with normal conversation... it's hard to tell what is the problem, french is my maternal language. Nikon, yes you read what you say... the throttle hang and raise... no foot on pedal... and it's stop when I brake... and reraise when I stop braking (with the clutch in). I will have the part tomorow so I give you news as I install it. The part in canada cost 50$CAN... so it's inexpensive I'll try it. They tell me that the sensor are on the master clutch cylinder, easy to replace. I change four sensors on this car in four years, 2 times have to take towing... with a caddy. Too bad! I don't really want to own this car anymore... next year I'll try Audi A6 2009, I hope that will be better in quality.

If your foots not on the throttle and the rpms are raising, you have a much different problem than the clutch pedal position sensor. Does your throttle act sporadically while your cruising? (speeding up/slowing down)....since you already bought it you may as well try the clutch sensor, otherwise it sounds like theres something screwy in one of the computers. Did you mess with the connectors on the throttle body at all?

Just checked the gm repair manual, throttle control consists of the sensor on the gas pedal, sensor in throttle body and the ecm...ecm is cutting the throttle when you hit the brakes, but apparently it's also letting the engine rev up when you clutch in. So, if the new sensor doesn't fix it, I'd take it to the dealer and the computer re-programmed.

Ok, I bought the clutch sensor positionner and the part that I pull out was in great condition, I try the new one and noting change... I change the crankshaft positionner 2 years ago and this is not the same problem (engine turn off after approx 10 mins). Nikon - I will tell you much more, when I drive, the gas don't go off but will not accelerate by imself (with gear on). If I'm in 5th gear, at 100Km/H, if I remove my feet on the gaz pedal, the car was continue to run at 100km/H but I feel a little down and up with the engine (or tranny?!), that wasn't gently ride. I will go to the dealer this week and plug the OBCD on, but the car don't always show errors code on, we have to run with and test it. I hope that we will find it in a minute...! :) Thanks a lot for your help and I will tell you what was the problem next week! Thanks for your comments about my english... I try to do my best!
