I was driving my car down SR 70.. (doing about 65) I accelerated to 70... and the car just stop accelerating so i got in the right lane and floated into a circle k... it made no noise.. i think the engine shut off... but what are some things that mighta happened? its rediculous cuz i got the car 2days ago.. i took it back to the place and there goina repair it.... but it was accelerating and all the sudden the gas pedal didnt do nothing and later on tht day the battery started going dead...... there was a alnator belt tht needed to be replaced in the car b4 i got it.. would tht be the problem? some people said its either ur alnator, timing belt, or maybe ur transmission... but whats yalls guesses?

You didn't say if you had to jump-start it to get it running again....
If the battery gets low enough the fuel pump will stop and therefore no gas.

There should be only one belt on your 4.1 deville, and if it went bad you'd overheat in a raped second... but it's possible the alternator was 'tango-uniform'...

Did the car throw any 'codes'?

thx for the feed back it was a prob with the distrubutor and it was fixed... and yes my 86 has 4.9 not a 4.1... i know 4.1 is stock but my car has the 4.9... its fast as a bitch... no1 on the side of me has touched me yet.. :p
