One failed Maine state inspection due to too dark window tint, bad right front strut, bad right rear shock, bad front wheel bearings, and bad right tie rod end on a 2000 STS equals:

Maine state inspection fee: $18.50

Right Strut $995.98

Right Shock absorber $788.34

2 front wheel bearings $646.92

2 outer tie rod ends $174.98

Two wheel alignment $69.95

Labor $568.35

Grand Total $3,262.99

Amount paid by me! $89.49

Having a warranty that covers everything but a $50 deductible and sales tax= PRICELESS! :)

Was removing the window tint covered?
No, they don't do that at the Cadillac dealer. I'm probably going to register it in another state.
I got caught doing that about 25 years ago when I was new here. Kansas really wants that personal property tax money :rant2:
Drive that SOB out here and I'll register it for ya...and buy ya a beer or fifty to make up for the drive!!!
Man, that is one hell of a state inspection. Usually they give it a quick once over, unless of coarse they are recommending a certain repair shop and getting a kickback.

Yeah, if I had just taken it to some oil change shop, that's probably what they would have done! Just a quick look at the STS, and charge me the money. I'm really glad now I took it to the dealer for an inspection. Especially if wheel bearings and tie rods are bad!
