I know there is a a few threads about this but none are exactly like mine. I have a power steering whine but no grabbing. It is not cold here in phoenix and it stays whining even when it warms up. I did a full flush and noise is still there. The car works fine but the whine is annoying. Is my only solution a new pump? By the way, my V is lowered, I think that might have something to do with it. Besides that no other mods that would affect it like bigger rims or anything.

The noise can be caused by a problem with the pump (failing), the hoses (kinked), or the rack (failing). The GM noise-related trouble shooting procedure calls for determining the source of noise with a "mechanical ear" J-39570. You could probably use a mechanics stethoscope (typically found at auto parts stores or a drug store) for the same purpose.

I experienced this and first discovered a serious fluid leak. Leak was from the rack. Took a month to find one (05 V FE4 handling package).
