What started out to be the best job i ever had has turned into one of the worst.

Starting about a month ago , they began to use me alot , i branched out and became a nessesary part of the dealer. Worked my ass off every day to the point i could barely walk when i got home. I worked 6+ days a week getting massive overtime and short lunches. But i still enjoyed it a little. Then the shoe fell ....The job has grown to the point that i take orders from well over 20 diffrent people. My nextel is constantly going off , and i work off a triage style method fo takeing care of everything. From getting snuff for my real boss, to test driveing and lightly troubleshooting rattles in devilles, to delivering cars to the uber rich on bayshore i run the gamit 9 hours a day.

They got me someone to work with me in a attempt to remove some of the load. Its turned out much diffrently , and the new person is missing all day. S on top of everything else i have to keep tabs on the person so i know where they are if the boss needs something. The higher ups have noted this person sitting around and doing nothing , and instaed of the person getting yelled at i end up yelled at and i end up being told i dont do enough. Im told this over the nextel as im working ......

So now i dont even get lunch anymore , i have to sneek food into my system so i can keep going....

A ray of light happend a few days ago with a possible promoton , it fell thru ....and tomorrow im to be in a meeting witht he bosses where i will be told what is expected of me in my position , which from what ive gathered today will involve more janitorial work and less of what im known for at cadillac ....

I have a feeling like autozone my finial words will be "i didnt apply to be a janitor" as i walk out ....Its the 3rd time in 2 years ive left a job because i feel i have done too much , worked too hard and ive paid my dues ....i shoudlnt have to clean and be a janitor anymore .....Ive never thought it was too much to ask to be able to do the job i was hired for ....The problem comes when people find out how hard i work and that i do nothing half ass , i then end up with the shit jobs becase "no one else wants to do it and we can count on you"....

The price i pay for being a hard working relible american ......

You should really talk with whomever it is that is your original supervisor and let him know that you are not happy with the current work environment and notify him of your impending decision to resign if conditions don't change. If the establishment is a good place to work to they will be responsive to your situation. If not then that is pretty much your cue to gracefully bow out. Sorry about the job situation.

If you are as hard working and reliable as you sound and I believe you are, then they wouldn't want to fire you. I've have days that I wonder why I started in real estate, and I remember that I love my job and don't really have an actual boss.

I hope everything works out for you!

i had a job like that once. i wouldnt ever work for them again either. i would starve to death before i went back to that damned place. guess what i told them they could kiss when the shit hit the fan when they needed me the most after mistreating me for a year and a half? thats right my ass. i was hired to make frames for garage ports and crap. well i had to do oh so many a day. well then they asked me to do this and that, clean this and that. then it turned into "you have to do all this and make those frames." well they got a big order in and needed almost double of what they make in a year. they told me i had to do more and work longer and blah blah blah this and that. i was like screw you i cant do all that. "do it or leave." ok well you can kiss my ass you... well what all i called the pr*ck is not important. i hoped in my car, "oh come on we were kidding, we really need help. come back in." nope, you better get out of my way before i run you over. he moved i left and never went back. i got called by them three times though.

thats the problem with these places. they get one good employee so they over work that person and then expect a whole shit load from them and then when you dont meet their expectations like you did before they run you off. it is like that at my current job. that is why i slack a little.

I don't believe they would want to fire you because I'm sure they are aware you are working hard. What about this new guy? If he's not pulling his weight, and you get grilled in the office tomorrow, then BE SURE to mention how much MORE work you do over him! Hopefully you can discuss these concerns with the Boss BEFORE he starts lecturing you, if he does at all....mention all your concerns....

Maybe they do see what a good worker you are and think that because you do a good job, they want you to do more? Why did they hire that new guy then? Is it because they recognize that you ARE swamped??? If so, I don't see why you should be disciplined or grilled over it. But you have to mention that you don't even have time for a lunch, that's wrong! You are also allowed 2 breaks, or should be.

I bet the new guy is a friend of the Bosses family, or family himself....or knew someone there and that's how he got the job, therefore he feels he can slack it...

It's the law here, you get 2 15 minute breaks and lunch of course.

The guy that's grilling you, etc. is there anyone above him in authority that you can talk to?? You could tell the Boss that the new guy is not helping that much, and that "I don't want it effecting my doing a good job and making me look bad, because I'm working very hard."

See how he reacts.

Stay out of car dealerships. There are NO decent jobs within their walls. The pressure boarders on the surreal. If in sales, 90% of the customers will either attempt or will treat you like siht, the boss will treat you the same way, as will the sales managers. If in parts, they'll have you carrying & hauling crap that will give you a hernia to deal with the rest of your life. If in all around "help" they'll overwork you and cheat you on your hours worked. It's the most miserable place of employment on earth. There is no pension, no profit sharing, no ability to "buy-in", no retirement fund, no nuttin. I was in it for 27 years. It was a love it & hated it business, for me.
Love Cars, Buy Cars, Enjoy Cars, Customize Cars, Show Cars..whatever, butdon't work at a car dealership! No matter what department you are in ~ it's a lousey job. This may be the best lesson you've learned. The only person who makes any real money there is the owner.
Go into real estate. Homes are really selling and you make like $ 2,000 every time you sell a house. Sell a car & make $55.00. Your move.
If you get a job, like filing and answering the phone at a real estate office, and the owner likes you, he'll sponcer you to got to school and then take the R.E. exam. Pass, and you're on your way to riches. After 8 to 10 years transfer to commercial R.E. where the big $$is and they'll be delivering new Caddies TO YOU !
Listen to me Stoney. My son listened to me. He's a Sr in college & has allready signed a contract for a job upon graduation on 5th Ave in Manhattan NYC beginning at $ 60,000 @ yr. He's 21 ! He starts this coming July ('06).

In a nutshell, it's because it's SO hard to make a PROFIT in any department at a car dealership. Example: WHAT other PRODUCT costs $40- $50 even $60 thousand dollars, and the salesman & the dealer have to beg, steal, plead, jump thru fire, to make a profit of $400 ??? Thats .8 % ! POINT EIGHT PERCENT ! What other service or product sells for .8% ?? Name one !
So everybody is ultra hyper. If you didn't (or are not) going to college, either go into Real Estate beginning on the ground floor, or a civil service job, WHERE there is a PENSION. You'll never be rich, but you'll always be comfortable - and when you are too old to work, the $$$ will come in your mailbox, along with the healthcare!!
