Possible Fuel Regulator Issue

680 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ranger
Dear colleagues,

Upon speaking with a potential mechanic about my 98 Seville STS that when hot has difficulty starting, he seemed to be fairly convinced over the phone that the problem will require a new fuel pump. The car has stalled but only once and started right back. He thought that since the car was only difficult to start when hot that that wouldn't be the fuel regulators. Is this a valid assumption? It seems to me, little that I know, that anything is going to leak and operate poorly under heat.

Let me know your thoughts-I'm just leary of jumping into a situation where I get the car over there, and it's a new fuel pump right off the bat. The car has 66K miles.

Thanks as always for your support,
Alan
