hi i have a 96 sts with a 140k. i just cleaned my throttle body about a week ago. and lately i have noticed when i give it a little gas my instant mpg is lower than it was before. it seems to have more torque (power) though. any ideas why i would be getting worse gas mileage now. and my avg. mileage is now hovering around 18mpg compared to around high 19's-20 before.

lol when giving the car gas it obviously is going to use more fuel. lol sorry couldnt resist. anyways there are 2 possible reasons for this 1, with the increase in performance your giving it more gas unknown to you or 2, with the tb cleaned now your gettin better fuel flow which causes more fuel to burn. i highly doubt its the latter of the two its probably because of the power increase your injoying it too much and gunning it more than you used to

Instant mpg is a poor indicator of actual mpg. Avg is much more acurate. I agree with CadillacETC1997. You are probably into it a little more and don't even realize it.
