:yup: Hi, I am new to this forum and need some help. The service engine soon light came on three days ago and comes and goes sporadically. I don't notice any problems while driving. I checked computer code and E41 came up. I looked it up and it means "No cam reference signal from ignition control module." Any thoughts on how I can fix this problem or whether it is bad for me to drive the car with light on. I have a 1992 4.9L w/140000mi. Thanks for your time.

most times when an e-41 sets you need to replace the cam sensor also called a hall effect switch by some. its inside the distributor under the rotor button....not too bad to replace....might have to bend a 1/4 inch wrench to get one of the screw out

Thanks for your help. I purchased the part for 81.00 at a parts store and installed it yesterday. That seemed to do the trick. No light thus far. Let me tell you those screws were a pain to remove. I spent an hour trying to get those screws out. Some silicone oil finally helped me. When I looked at the old sensor, it was already in pieces. I'm suprised the light didn't turn on continuously.
Once again thanks.

If it took you 1 hour to remove the screw tha stealership would have billed you for three~!

I'll second (or third) that on trying to get the cam sensor out. It took more than an hour, two friends and lots of cuss words on my part to get the bloody thing out.

The worst part? My car is still stalling! See my post here for all the gory details and any advice you can give.
